Greenwood Valley Results
Race #3 - July 13th

This past Sunday the PDKS made its way north to Greenwood Valley Action Track for the third race of a six race series. Though Mother Nature threatened the racers with rain, she relented by bringing us an awesome day and with it an outstanding racing surface. The Ensor Team seemed to struggle a bit during qualifying posting five of twenty poles awards, including two by Missy Ford; but all the drivers got their game face on in time for the Feature Events.
Junior Sportsman I Champ was the third class out and our only driver, Trevor Eisenhour, was lined up to start third, but would not stay there long. As the race progressed Trevor made his way to the lead and though other drivers tried to steal the win away, Eisenhour was having none of it as he pulled away to land his first Feature Win ever. Excitement abounded after such a great start!
That excitement continued as the Jr. Champs took to the track and the second suprise of the day was Christian Weaver pulling off a second place finish at his first State Race. Chad Brooks followed him to the line to grab third and Kody Hartlaub rounded out the top five.
The suprises kept coming as Tony Mrakovich found his way into the tech area with his first top five finish in the Junior Sportsman I Light class, following Owen Dubble who finished fourth.
The Junior Sportsman II Champs were up next and Colton Laughman came home third making his record two for two in Top Five finishes in his first two State Races. Tyler Musselman, a regular at Greenwood Valley decided to give the States a try for the first time and fought his way to a fourth place finish as well.
On the bad end of the suprises was Mssy Ford in the F200/Limited class. Missy was the class of the field all day landing the Pole Position and cruising to what should have been a Feature Win, when a mechanical steering issue caused her to spin out, landing her at the tail end of the field. With only a few laps remaining, Ford marched straight back up to take home a respectable second.
The Junior Restricted Light class brought Cole Achey to the Tech Area with his second place finish, followed by Chad Brooks in third. Shane Davis scored a second place finsih in the Stock Medium class as well.
The Junior Sportsman II Light Feature turned out to be one of the most exciting of the day as Michael Moore fought the good fight duking it out with another driver for the Feature Win, only to loose by .13 of a second. Missy Ford started the Flathead 330 Class from the Pole Position and would not relinquish that position as she led all karts to the line, followed by Kevin Miller in second.
The Sr. Champ class was up next and Motor Nature was brewing up some trouble on the horizon. With eleven of the twenty laps in, she gave us warning and threw down a good stream of rain; causing the karts to be pulled from the track. By WKA rules, the race was declared complete and the drivers where scored according to where they were running at the time the rain began. This left Devin Steward in second, Dwight Leppo fourth and his big brother Nick Leppo in fifth.
After a short delay, the rain stopped and racing started, as did the string of Feature Wins. Ensor drivers would do a clean sweep of the remaining four classes beginning with Chris Davis in the Stock Heavy class. Michael Moore was then vindicated as he won the Junior Sportsman II Heavy Feature.
Next up was the always exciting Junior Restricted Heavy class. Cole Achey was patient as he waited for his kart to 'come in' and in doing so took home the win. Cody Hauck made his debut at the State Series, and found he liked it as he battled the best of the best to land a second place finish. Chad Brooks completed his three event day by claiming his third 3rd place finish while Derek Sheaffer fought his way from the rear to fourth in a caution free race.
As always, the last race of the day is the $500 To Win Pro Class and Shane Davis ended it where he began - in front to grab the final Feature Win of the day as Missy Ford grabbed second and Kevin Miller fifth.

On a day were suprises abounded as each race unfurled on a track as perfect as one could ask; no one knew there was one more suprise left to be dealt. As the race day came to an end in record time, and the last of 235 drivers pulled out of the track, Mother Nature let loose with a torrent of rain!
